Bohemian Vintage Back Yard Wedding

Victoria, BC

Becca & Cody

Becca & Cody, the Origin Story:

Where they met:

An unexpected encounter while camping on Mystic beach over Easter long weekend over 10 years ago.

“That night I went camping and met Codes, somebody stole my tailgate off my truck. So our official first date started with us going to a metal wreckers in Langford to try and get a new one. We went bowling after that. We were each competitive enough for each other that boxes were getting ticked off. We followed with dinner at Spinnakers and the USS show in 9one9. It was a perfect date.”

Describe your ideal date night:

“It's usually one or the other... Fancy dress with cocktails and appies out on the town, or some sort of sporty activity and beers at the pub.
many date nights are pizza on the deck with a bottle of whiskey and some sort of board or card game.”

When asked what they were looking forward to most on their wedding day:

Cody: “I’m excited for a fun night dressed up with friends & family - and to finally call bex my wife!”

Becca: “I can’t wait to finally have both my worlds together. we would have eloped years ago, but I needed to have my family here on the day. My neice has been talking about our wedding for 5 years… she’s 9. I can’t wait to celebrate where 10 years has gotten us and to add all the memories of the day to our house & property. I am dying to watch my girls have the most fun on the dance floor… inevitably, I’ll join them too.”

Which leads us to…

The vintage inspired, bohemian wedding OF THE DECADE…

Did I dream it? Because it certainly felt that way.

Cody, becca and I met up a week before their wedding at their property (where they were hosting their wedding). They began to list out their grandiose plans (which to me, sounded absolutely impossible to complete in a weeks time).

MY GOODNESS was I wrong.

it was immaculate, better than I could have ever imagined. The nuanced details were boundless. It was like stepping right out of my vintage boho dreams into a festival-inspired reality. I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor all day long.

There were chandeliers in the trees, string lights hung in all directions, wild flowers adorning the tables, a circus style tent, countless persian rugs, 20 vintage couches/chairs that becca had been collecting over the past year. I was in heaven.

Aside from the stunning, one-of-a-kind details. The warm energy in the air was palpable. Cody & Becca’s wedding felt like a giant family-friend reunion, the vibes were high. and damn did I feel lucky to be a part of it, not only as their wedding photographer, but as a friend. Their love runs deep, you can tell that their foundation is unshakable. They have the kind of love that inspires everyone who they come in contact with.

How lucky I feel to tell their story.
